Classes
Which classs is for you?
Classes at The Yoga Workshop are taught in the Iyengar tradition of yoga.
The teacher, Akhila Hughes is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
Yoga Basics and Beginners
The Yoga Basics classes and the Beginners Courses cover the basics of yoga including standing poses, arm extensions and weight-bearing, back and shoulder opening, forward bending and really relaxing. It’s fun! There is no need to be fit or flexible, you will work to your capacity and we use props as needed to help you access the poses safely and to assist you to progress through the asana.
The aim of yoga is to bring your body and mind more into your awareness. Doing that helps us to slow down and forget, for a little while, the busy-ness of our life and to tune in to what we’re actually feeling and the state of our Selves. Practicing the asana, or poses gives the mind the opportunity to stop the usual thought patterns and to feel the body and the breath.
Suitable for complete beginners, those with some experience and those who have not experienced Iyengar yoga before and those retuning to Yoga after a break. You will work to your capacity and develop your understanding and skill in each class. You can book into the Beginners Course or attend the Yoga Basics class. Level 1/2 Class
The Level 1/2 classes continue on from the Basics class and Beginners course class, however if you have experience with yoga there is no need to have attended a Beginners or Basics classes.
These classes, for people with some experience of Yoga, will deepen your understanding and increase your skill in the asana or poses. We cover a range of asana that you perform to your capacity, guided by the teacher, at your level of experience and capability. Please contact me if you have any questions. See the Class Passes for discounted packages.
Classes are held at the Jimmy Little Community Centre, 19 Cecily St, Lilyfield. NSW
